Political choices have to be made on school funding before it’s too late, says Kevin Courtney

The National Union of Teachers, working with many others, is striving to ensure that one of the main issues of this General Election is education and the funding crisis faced by our schools and colleges. It is truly disgraceful that headteachers are being forced to make decisions that they know are bad for education and bad for teachers and support staff.

In the Conservative manifesto for the 2015 election it said “a future Conservative government will protect the money following your child into school”. Well, in half the schools in the country the money following our children into school is being cut in cash terms. In the other half its being cut in real terms.
